Biography:
Ricardo Pacheco received a Masters in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and is currently teaching 7th Mathematics at Canutillo Middle School in Canutillo, Texas. He is a strong advocate of hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Mr. Pacheco involves his students in a variety of project-based learning, problem-solving, and technology-infused activities that provide them with opportunities to use their math knowledge to become higher-order thinkers. His professional interests focus on communicative approaches to mathematics teaching, thematic planning, and cooperative learning, differentiated instruction, and his current pedagogical philosophy includes transitioning his classroom into a "flipped classroom". In addition, he participates in extra-curricular activities serving as the 7th grade Football Assistant coach, 8th grade Boys Basketball coach, 8th grade Boys Track coach, 8th grade Girls Soccer coach, and being the 6th-8th Mathematics UIL coach .
